Control of Assistive Technology

Phase 0: wheelchairs and robots.

In 2007  we started worrying about wheelchair control and rehabilitation. While there are a lot of research groups developing technology and fancy algorithms, we don't see those being transferred to the community. We also believe we can implement some of our ideas in a very simple environment (be it a robot or a wheelchair!) as proof of concept. The popularity of these projects (from "brain control of an RC car" to "voice activated wheelchair") is huge among high school students, undergraduates, and graduate students.
These projects involve controls, robotics, sensors, actuators, some programming, hardware development, and so on...

Videos relating to this project are available in Hossein's website, under "research": http://mason.gmu.edu/~hghaffar. Enjoy!
