Cavendish Experiment

Latest Modification:August 20, 2003

The objective is to reproduce Cavendish's original experiments measuring the gravitational constant, G. Start by reading what Cavendish did in his original experiments. Then figure out how the apparatus works. Design a model (theoretical) for the tortional osciallator , figure out what parameters you need to measure and how to measure them from the system. Hint: this is a damped harmonic oscillator, and you need the spring constant. Then you do the experiment.
