In the summer of 1994, I went with the University Chorus to Europe. We participated in the Handel Festival in Halle, Germany (Handel's birthplace). We also teamed up with a Japanese chorus, a Russian chorus, and an orchestra made up of musicians from all over the world to perform Verdi's Requiem. This was sponsored by the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW), and performed in Berlin and Paris to commemorate the 50th anniversary of D-day. The Berlin concert was broadcast via satellite all over Europe, and a CD was made.
The following sound bites from the CD are available (some are better than others; I guarantee the actual CD is far superior). Please let me know what format is most accessable; I've included .wav and .aiff files here:
1. Dies Irae (.wav), or Dies Irae (.aiff) (307K)
2. Offertorio (.wav), or Offertorio (.aiff). (263K)
Here is the front and back of the liner notes (see if you can find me!).
This CD can be ordered from, among other places, Olsson's Books and Records. Their mail order department can be reached at 800-989-8084.
Please note that the IPPNW holds the copyright for these sounds and images.
